Who we are
ShootClip is a native macOS video editor. This policy explains what data the ShootClip app and the shootclip.com website handle, and what never leaves your Mac. Questions: support@shootclip.com.
Your videos stay on your Mac
ShootClip is a local editor. Your media, projects, and timelines are stored on your computer and are never uploaded to ShootClip servers. We have no access to your footage, exports, or project files.
What we collect
Account. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and profile photo. We use them to identify your account and activate your license in the app.
Subscription. Payments are processed by Dodo Payments. We store your plan, subscription status, and billing dates. We never see or store your card details — those stay with the payment processor.
Server logs. Standard technical logs (IP address, request time) are kept briefly for security and debugging.
Auto captions (Pro)
When you run auto captions, the clip’s audio is sent directly from your Mac to OpenAI for transcription — it never passes through ShootClip servers. Our server only authorizes the request and counts the clip’s duration toward your plan’s monthly caption minutes. You never need your own API key.
Cookies
The website uses a session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising trackers or sell data to anyone.
Sharing
We share data only with the processors needed to run the service: Google (sign-in), Dodo Payments (billing), OpenAI (auto-caption audio, transiently), and — when you connect an MCP client — the AI provider you choose. We never sell your personal data.
Retention & deletion
Account and subscription records are kept while your account is active and as long as required for accounting. To delete your account and its data, email support@shootclip.com from your sign-in address.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will post the update here with a new effective date.
